The UNESCO Director-General congratulates the International Union of Microbiology Societies on the organization of its 2026 Biennial Congress, as well as the panel discussion dedicated to microbial solutions for sustainable development and climate action.
UNESCO welcomes this initiative, which is fully aligned with the shared priorities of our two organizations. Advancing sustainable scientific solutions to address the challenges of climate change and strengthening international scientific cooperation are objectives that we jointly pursue. The Biennial IUMS Congress represents an important contribution to international scientific dialogue and to the mobilization of knowledge in support of sustainable development.
The initiative is also consistent with the objectives of the International Decade of Sciences for Sustainable Development (2024-2033), supported by UNESCO.
